Christmas chip club!

Chips, scallop, curry sauce

Sunday, 15 December 2013

Christmas must be coming. A giant inflatable Santa has appeared outside Manchester town hall.

Friends have described it as 'an obese gingerbread man ... sitting on a cheap Ikea coffee table', 'reminds me of South Park', and 'What the hell has Zippy got to do with Christmas?'

The moustache and soul patch combo. Is there a name for this facial hairstyle?

Me with two weeks' growth of moustache and soul patch

I don't know, but I suggest that it should be called... the Fridtjof. Named of course after its finest champion, the 19th century Arctic explorer Fridtjof Nansen.

Think I might keep this when Movember's over :-)

First night-time commute of the year. Foxes and rabbits on unlit trails.

Also, the cateye nano shot is a nifty bit of kit. Charges from USB, 600 lumens, tiny.

At Stockport town hall to do a gig with Hekety.

Stockport town hall has this ornate italianate décor, in contrast to the dour neo-gothic of Manchester town hall.

So apparently there's a second Edinboro' Bike Coop in Manchester city centre. Website says it's open, access via Parker Street and New York Street. I wandered around the block twice this afternoon but couldn't even see it. Where exactly is it? Do you have to join the City Tower Cycle Hub to get into the shop?

We're missing out St Werburgh's Road and Withington, because there's nothing there.
