Finished reading The Allegory of Love by C. S. Lewis 📚.

I should have read this 25 years ago. The Faerie Queene would have made a lot more sense.

Scenes from the Commute, Part 2

Industrial ruins.

View across a river to a ruined warehouse, partially obscured by foliage

The A560 runs along the top of the opposite bank. As you drive along it, you don't necessarily realise that the ground underneath is riddled with caves and tunnels.

View across a river to a tall sandstone bank with cave entrances

More caves and tunnels, hidden by spring growth. You might have to zoom in.

The Mersey was low that day.

A redbrick industrial building, overgrown with foliage, standing right at the bank of a river. On the side of the building is a depth gauge. The water level is lower than the bottom of the gauge.

The viaduct. Man, it's big.

Stockport railway viaduct, viewed from underneath.

Bluebells in Reddish Vale.

A forested slope. The ground is covered with flowering bluebells.

More railway architecture.

A walled embankment, topped with vegetation

Brinnington is on the other side of that tunnel.

The entrance to an old railway tunnel, now converted to a mixed-use trail.

Spring in Didsbury

A branch with blossoms viewed against the sky
Graffiti of a face with large ears, done in white paint on a redbrick wall

A little glimpse of old Didsbury, briefly seen when one of the bars / restaurants was being refurbished.

An old shop frontage saying 'W F Knowles'

It's like peeling back the layers of the present to see the past underneath.
